The Church of the Nazarene in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, is a Protestant Christian church. It is about 10-minute train ride from Shinjyuku Station to Shimokitazawa. For over 90 years, we have been doing missionary work in this area of Tokyo. We hold worship services every Sunday in our historic sanctuary.
In our church, there are English-speaking members, including the pastor, as well as members who have lived in other countries and members from Taiwan and China. We welcome everyone, whether you live in Japan or are visiting Japan for a short period of time.
The Church of the Nazarene was started by John Wesley. It is active in 160 countries worldwide, with a total membership of 2.7 million. We are not associated with the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Mormon Church, or the former Unification Church (Family Federation).
Every Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 12:10 PM.
During the Sunday services, we sing hymns, read the Bible, and listen to a sermon by the pastor. A leader will guide you through the service, so you can feel comfortable even if it is your first time. There is no dress code. Bibles, hymnals, and other necessary items are provided at the church. The service is held in a calm and traditional atmosphere.
The Sunday service are conducted in Japanese, but we can provide translated manuscripts of the pastor's message in various languages.
